The Dead Daisies Drop Explosive New Single “Boom Boom” Ahead of Blues-Drenched Album Lookin’ For Trouble
The Dead Daisies are cranking up the volume and diving headfirst into the blues with their scorching new single, “Boom Boom”, out now via SPV GmbH Germany. A raw, riff-soaked reimagining of the John Lee Hooker classic, the track is the latest teaser from their upcoming album, Lookin’ For Trouble, landing May 30.

The band’s version of “Boom Boom” is already turning heads. Raised by Cassettes hails it as “a high-energy, soul-drenched performance that bridges past and present,” while airwaves across Germany, the UK, and Australia are lighting up with early spins.
Frontman John Corabi explains the track’s origin: “Hooker recorded it with the legendary Funk Brothers after being scolded by a bartender at the Apex Bar—‘Boom boom, you late again!’ He thought it was a great title and wrote the song. We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to put our spin on it!”

Recorded live at the iconic FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Lookin’ For Trouble captures the fire and spontaneity of classic blues with a modern rock edge. The lineup—Corabi, David Lowy, Doug Aldrich, Michael Devin, and Sarah Tomek—fed off the energy of the room that once hosted sessions by Aretha Franklin and Etta James. A late-night jam turned into a full-blown album under the watchful ear of producer Marti Frederiksen.
The album features ten powerhouse tracks, reimagining blues legends with The Dead Daisies’ signature swagger. From the mythic “Crossroads” by Robert Johnson to hard-hitting renditions of “Going Down” (Freddie King), “Black Betty” (Lead Belly), “Born Under A Bad Sign” (Albert King), “Sweet Home Chicago” (Robert Johnson), and “The Thrill Is Gone” (B.B. King), each song gets a fresh shot of adrenaline.
“This album is our love letter to the blues,” says Corabi. “When I first heard blues, it was through bands like Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones. The deeper I researched my heroes, the deeper I got into the history of this music. The blues is the soul of rock ‘n’ roll—it’s in everything we do.”
Guitarist Doug Aldrich adds, “We cut these songs live, in the same room where so many legends recorded. It was all about feel—capturing the rawness and authenticity that makes blues so powerful.”
With Lookin’ For Trouble on the horizon, The Dead Daisies are set to bring their electrifying live energy to stages across Europe and the UK this summer. Tour dates and ticket info can be found at: thedeaddaisies.com/tour-2025.
